Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim, Today’s topic of discussion is Dua for entering the masjid and Dua when leaving the mosque.

several supplications for entering and leaving the masjid are described in Sahih hadiths. Some of them are as follows.

Dua for entering the masjid (Dua No. 1)

Abu Usaid (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “When one of you enters the mosque, he should say:

اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Pronunciation: All-Hummaftahli Abwa-ba Rahmatiq.

Meaning: O Allah! Open the doors of your mercy for me.

Dua when leaving the mosque (Dua No. 1)

And when he comes out, he should say,

اَللّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

Pronunciation: All-Humma Inni Asaluka Ming Fazlik.

Meaning: O Allah! I beg your grace.

Abu Dawud 465, Nasa’i 729, Ahmad 16057, Darimi 2733, Sahih Ibn Hibban 2049, Mishkat 703; Sanad Sahih.

Dua for entering the masjid (Dua No. 2)

Fatimah (RA) said, when the Prophet (PBUH) used to enter the mosque, he used to recite durood on the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). Then he would say,

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي وَافْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Pronunciation: Rabbigfirli Junubi Waftahli Abwa-ba Rahmatiq.

Meaning: O Allah! Forgive my sins and open the doors of Your mercy for me.

Dua when leaving the mosque (Dua No. 2)

And when he went out, he recited blessings on the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). Then he would say,

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي وَافْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ فَضْلِكَ

Pronunciation: rabbigfirli junubi waftahli abwa-ba fazlik.

Meaning: O my Lord! Forgive my sins and open for me the doors of Your grace.

Tirmidhi 314, Mishkat 731; Sanad Sahih.

Dua when leaving home or house in Arabic and English

Dua for entering the masjid. Dua No.3

Amr Ibnul As (ra) said, when the Prophet (pbuh) entered the mosque, he used to say,

أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ الْعَظِيمِ وَبِوَجْهِهِ الْكَرِيمِ وَسُلْطَانِهِ الْقَدِيمِ مِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

Pronunciation: Auju billa-hil azeem wabi waz hihil karim, wa sultwa-nihil kadimi minash shaytwa-nir rajim.

Meaning: I seek refuge from the banished Satan from Almighty Allah, who is always regal and dignified in countenance.

Abu Dawud 466, Mishkat 749, Sahih at Targhib 1606; Sanad Sahih.

Combining the above hadiths, Dua for entering the masjid and Dua when leaving the masjid will be as follows:

Dua for entering the masjid

أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ الْعَظِيمِ وَبِوَجْهِهِ الْكَرِيمِ وَسُلْطَانِهِ الْقَدِيمِ مِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ، بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَالصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهُ اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Pronunciation: Auzu billa-hil azeem wabi wajhihil kareem, wa sultwa-nihil qdimi minash shaytwa-nir rajim. Bismillah-Hi Wasw Swala-Tu Was Sala-Mu Ala- Rasulilla-Hi, All-Hummaftahli Abwa-Ba Rahmatik.

And the dua to leave the mosque will be as follows:

Dua when leaving the mosque

بسم الله والصلاةُ والسَّلامُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ اَللّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ اللَّهُم اعْصِمْنِي مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّحِيم

Pronunciation: Bismillahi Was Swalatu Was Salamu Ala- Rasoolilla-Hi, All-Humma Inni Asaluka Ming Fazilika All-Humma A’Simani Minash Shayat-Nir Razim.

Mishkat 703, 731, 749; Sanad Sahih.
