Darood Sharif (Durood Shareef) in Arabic and English

Bismillahir Rahmani Rahim, Today’s topic of discussion is Darood Sharif (Durood Shareef) in Arabic and English transliteration & translation, Darood e Ibrahim, Importance of Durud Sharif, benefits of Darud Sarif, Short Dorud Sorif, etc.

What is Darood Sharif?

The word Darood or Durood is Persian, which was assimilated into English in the 17th century due to its widespread use in Muslim speech, which means asking for mercy etc. Durood is Arabic for Salat. Durood means to pray to Allah Ta’ala for mercy, blessings, and peace for Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

Almighty Allah says:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ۚ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا

Indeed Allah favors the Prophet and His angels also pray for the Prophet. O, believers! You also pray for the Prophet and greet him well. (Offer salat and salam)

Surah Ahzab Verse No. 56

The last Durood or the best Durud is Durud Ibrahim which we recite in Salat. Given below is Durude Ibrahim with Bengali pronunciation and meaning. And apart from that we will mention more Durood Sharif Bengali with pronunciation and meaning InshaAllah.

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ، وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

Benefits of Dorud Sorif

1. By reciting Darood Sharif once, Allah Ta’ala bestows mercy ten times, forgives ten sins, and increases status ten times.

Narrated by Anas (RA):

He said Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: Whoever recites Darood on me once, Allah Ta’ala will send mercy on him ten times. His ten sins will be forgiven, and ten degrees will be increased for nearness to Allah.

Mishkat Hadith No. 922, Nasa’i Hadith No. 1297

Hadith quality: Sahih

2. Reciting more and more Darood Sharif is the reason to get close to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the Day of Resurrection.

وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُوْدٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ ﷺ اَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِى يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ اَكْثَرُهُمْ عَلَىَّ صَلَوةً. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ

Narrated by Ibn Mas’ud (RA):

He said Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: Those who recite the most blessings on me will be the closest to me on the Day of Resurrection.

Narrated by Ubayy Ibn Kaab (RA):

He said, that after two-thirds of the night, the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) would wake up and say: O mankind! Remember Allah Ta’ala, remember Allah Ta’ala. The first horn that causes the vibration has arrived and will be followed by the next horn. Death has come to its horrors, Death has come with its horrors. Ubai (RA) said I said, O Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him)! I bless you very much. How much of my time should I spend on your Darud lessons? He said, as long as you want.

I said, a quarter of the time? He said, “If you can read as much as you want, it will be good for you.” I said, then I will recite Darud half the time? He said, If you can increase it as long as you want, it will be good for you. I said, then two-thirds of the time I will recite Darud? Then he said, “As long as you wish, but if you can increase more than this, it is better for you.” I said, then I will spend all my time reading your greetings. He said: That will be enough for your worries and sufferings and your sins will be forgiven.
