Ayatul Kursi in English translation
Allah, besides whom there is no god. Who is eternal and the bearer of universal character. No drowsiness or sleep can overtake him. Everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Him. Who is there, except by His command, who can recommend to Him? He knows everything before and behind them. From His ocean of knowledge, they can master nothing, except what He wills to give. His throne encompasses the entire heavens and the earth. And supervising them does not tire him at all. He is supreme and great.
Ayatul Kursi benefits
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) encouraged the Ummah to recite Ayatul Kursi. Because of the greatness of Ayatul Kursi, the hadith encourages it to be read more and more, it is said to keep it in the daily recitation dua, which the Muslim person is careful about and recites repeatedly during the day:
1. Reciting Ayatul Kursi at the end of every obligatory prayer
One who recites Ayatul Kursi during the obligatory prayer remains in the protection of Allah Ta’ala until the next prayer.
Imam Tabarani narrates on the authority of Hasan bin Ali, who said: The Prophet (PBUH) said: Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi in every obligatory prayer, he will remain in the protection of Allah until the next prayer. How reliable and powerful is this protection? Of course, it is the protection of Allah, the creator of all creations, the owner of the universe, and the director of everything. And this is the protection of Allah, which if get, no one would be humiliated, and if enmity would not be honored. This is the promise of Allah, Whom He helps, no one can prevail over him, and whom He insults, no one can help.
Therefore, those who are interested in getting this protection should always be interested in reciting Ayatul Kursi in every obligatory prayer.
Death is the only distance between the reciter of Ayatul Kursi and Jannat after the obligatory prayer
Imam Nasa’i, Imam Ibn Hibban, and Tabarani narrated on the authority of Abu Umama; who said that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi in every obligatory prayer, the only barrier to entering Paradise is death.
Kitabus Sunan Al-Kubra Chapter, Acts of the Day and Night Chapter, Rewards for Reciting Ayatul Kursi in Every Prayer, Hadith No. 9928/1, 6/30.
Imam Nasa’i narrated on the authority of Abu Umama Radiyallahu Anhu, who said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi after the obligatory prayer, nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise except death.”
Amalul Yawmi Wal Laila, Hadith No. 100; Shaykh al-Albani in the book Sahih al-Jam says Sahih. Hadith No. 6464
Ibnul Qayyim Rah. He said, “It was reported by our Shaykh Abul Abbas Ibn Taymiyyah (Qaddasallahu Ruhahu), I did not stop reciting it at the end of every prayer.

2. Reciting Ayatul Kursi while sleeping
Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi while taking refuge in bed, a protector will be appointed for him by Allah and Satan will not come near him until morning.
Narrated by Abu Huraira in Sahih Bukhari, he said, “Once the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, appointed me to guard the Zakat of Ramadan.” An unknown person comes at night and steals the zakat food with his hands full. I arrested him and said: By Allah! I will present you to the Messenger of Allah, peace, and blessings be upon him. He says: I am poor, I have children. I am very needy. Sad to hear, I let him go.
In the morning, the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to me, Abu Hurairah! What did your prisoner do last night? I replied: O Messenger of Allah! He tells me about his sorrows, about losing his son. My Maya comes, and I leave her. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, He has lied and he will come again.
I believe that he will come. Because the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said about coming again. I hang up. At night, he steals the food for Zakat with his hands full again. When I wanted to arrest him and bring him to the court of the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, he said: Let him go, brother! I am a sad man, I have children at home, and I will not come again. I feel sorry for him. So I gave up.
In the morning, the Messenger of God said, Abu Hurairah, what about your prisoner? I replied: O Messenger of Allah! He speaks of his sorrows, of the little child, hearing my pity, I let him go. The Messenger of Allah, peace, and blessings be upon him, said, He has lied to you and he will come again.
I waited for him for the third time. Steal again. Seize it and say, I will present it to the Messenger of Allah. This is the last time, the third time. You say: Come no more but come again. He says leave me. I will teach you a few words in return. Allah will benefit you by it. I say what are they? He says: When you go to bed recite Ayatul Kursi. (Allahu La Ilaha Illa Hual Haiyul Qayyum…) till the last verse. If you do this, a guardian will be appointed by Allah for all time and Satan will not come near you until the morning. Then I let him go.
In the morning the Messenger of Allah asked me again: What did your prisoner do last night? I said: He wants to teach me something by which Allah will benefit me. I leave him. The Messenger of Allah, peace, and blessings be upon him, said, What are those words? I say: He says to me: When going to bed, recite Ayat al-Kursi from beginning to end (Allahu la ilaha Allahu al-haul Qayyum…) He says: If you do this, Allah will appoint a guardian for you forever. And Satan will not come near you until the morning.
(The narrator said, the Companions were most interested in welfare) After hearing everything, the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “He is a liar but he has told you the truth.” Abu Hurairah! Do you know who you were talking to for three days? He says: No. The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: He was Satan.
Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 2311.
Shaykhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah in his commentary on this hadith says: If a person recites this verse faithfully, believing in it, during a satanic act, it will be nullified, such as using Satan to enter the Fire, or by whistling and clapping. Appears to Satan and speaks in Satan’s language whose meaning cannot be understood or whose words cannot be understood. Allama Aini said in the commentary of this hadith: It shows the virtue of Ayatul Kursi.

3. Reciting Ayatul Kursi in the morning and evening
A person who recites Ayatul Kursi in the evening will get rid of Satan till morning. And whoever recites it in the morning, will be safe from Satan till evening.
On the authority of Ubai Ibn Ka’b Radiyallahu Anhu, he had a pouch in which he kept dates. Dates were decreasing gradually. One night he keeps watching. Suddenly a beast like a young man! He saluted him. He returns the greeting. Then he said, what are you? Jinn or man? He says Jinn. Ubai Radiyallahu Anhu said, I see your hand. He offers his hand. His hands were like the hands of a dog and his hair was like the hair of a dog. He said it was Jinn’s Surat. He (the beast) says: I am the bravest of them with the jinn community. Then he said, what is the reason for your coming? Then he said: We have heard that you like alms, so have come to get some alms food.
Sahabi said, what is the way to get rid of you? He says: This verse of Surah Baqarah (Allahu la ilaha illah hual hayyul qayyum). Whoever recites it in the evening will get rid of us till morning. And whoever recites it in the morning will be safe from us till the evening. In the morning, he came to the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, and informed him of the incident. The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, Khabis has spoken the truth.
The hadith was narrated by Nasa’i and Tabarani. Shaykh al-Albani Sahihut Targheeb Sahih said, 1/418.
This and the hadith mentioned before are proof of the power of this verse to protect the servant, to ward off Satan from a place, and to be safe from Satan’s plots and mischief. And if it is recited in a satanic location, it abrogates it, as Shaykhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah has proved in various places in his books. He said in the book called ‘Al Furqan, “If you read Ayatul Kursi truthfully at that time, then their actions are nullified because Tawheed repels Satan.”
Al-Furqan Bayna Awliair Rahman wa Awliaish Shaytaan, p. 146.
He further said that if people read Ayatul Kursi truthfully in place of Satanic conspiracy, it destroys it (magic).
Al-Furqan 140.
He further said in his book ‘Qayedah Jalilah Fit Tawassul Wal Osila’, “Ayatul Kursi should be recited truthfully, if it is recited it will disappear or it will enter into the ground or disappear.
Qaeda Jalilah, p. 28.
He further said, “Satan has no influence on the believers and the Muwahhid, that is why they flee from the house where Surah Baqarah is recited.” Similar to Ayat al-Kursi, the last part of Surah Baqarah and other fear-relieving verses of the Quran escape. Among the jinn, there is some jinn who prophesy to astrologers and others. They listen to what they have stolen from the sky (part of the angels’ discussion). Astrology was widely practiced in Arab lands. Then when Tawheed is preached, Satan flees. Satan is removed or reduced. Then it manifests itself in places where the influence of Tawheed is weak.
An-Nabuwat 1/280.
He further said, “All these satanic plots are thwarted or weakened when Allah and His Tawheed are remembered and the verses of the Quran, especially Ayatul Kursi, are recited. Because it thwarts all unusual satanic devices.
Nabuwat 1/283.
The encouragement to read Ayat al-Kursi more and more by the hadith of the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, proves the importance of it and the Tawheed and greatness mentioned in it for the Muslim person. Before which no nullity can survive, instead, it destroys the pillars of nullity, shakes the foundation, separates the unity, uproots, and erases its original sign.
The aforementioned proofs show that it is mustahabb to recite this verse eight times day and night. Twice in the morning and evening. Once it’s time to sleep. Five times after the obligatory prayer. When the Muslim can read it repeatedly, keeping the meaning and needs in mind and with the consequences and purpose in mind, then the greatness of Tawheed will increase in his heart, the bond of Tawheed will be strengthened in his mind, the commitment of Tawheed will be strengthened in his heart. Thus he will become firmer clinging to the cord which is never to be broken. As described in the next verse of Ayatul Kursi.
4. Isme Azam is in Ayatul Kursi
Allah Ta’ala has beautiful names, and we are commanded to call Him by those names. Among those blessed names is Isme Azam; Through that name, asking is granted, and praying through it is granted. About this, the great truthful and faithful Prophet (PBUH) has given the news that surely Isme Azam is in some verses of the Quran. Ayatul Kursi is among those verses.
In this regard, Imam Ahmad narrated from Asma bint Yazid (RA), who said, I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, “There is no true god but Allah.” He is Eternal, Eternal. (Surah Baqarah 255)” and “Alif, Lam, Meem, Allah, there is no true god but He. He is Eternal, Eternal. (Surah Al-Imran 1-2)” These two verses contain Isme Azam.
Imam Hakeem, on the authority of Al-Qasem bin Abdur Rahman, on the source of Abu Umama (RA), on the source of the Prophet (PBUH), who said; Isme Azam is contained in three surahs; In Surah Al-Baqara, Surah Al-Imran and Surah Taha.
Sahih Hadith Series: 2/383
The following points are known from the above-mentioned hadiths
First: For the one who recites Ayatul Kursi while lying in bed, a protector is appointed by Allah Ta’ala and Satan will not approach him until morning. This matter is described in the first hadith.
Second: If Ayatul Kursi is recited in any house, harmful jinn and all such things will be removed from it. This matter is described in the second hadith.
Third: He who recites Ayatul Kursi in the morning is safe from the jinn until the evening, and he who recites it in the evening is safe from them until the morning. This matter is described in the third hadith.
If anyone wishes that a protector be appointed for him from Allah Ta’ala. That Shaytan stays away from him. That Allah Ta’ala keeps him safe from their harm; and that they may not harm him in any way. He must recite Ayatul Kursi in the morning and evening.
