Jazakallah Khair meaning

جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا

Pronunciation: Jazakallahu Khairan.

Meaning: May Allah reward you well.

When to say Jazakallahu Khairan?

When someone does a favor or a favor, he should say Jazakallahu Khairan in appreciation. On the authority of Usama bin Zayd (RA): He said, The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: When someone is shown favor if he says to the benefactor, (جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا) “Jajakallahu Khairan” i.e. “May Allah bestow upon you a good reward,” then he is worthy. He gave total praise.

On the authority of Ibn Umar (RA): He said, The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Reward the one who treats you well. If you don’t find anything to give him, keep making dua for him until you realize that you have repaid him.

Warning

Many people say just (جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ) “Jazakallah” meaning “may Allah reward you”. It is not right to say so. Because in the hadith it is said to say (جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا) “Jajakallahu Khairan” meaning “May Allah reward you well”.

Reply to Jazakallah Khair

ﻭَﺃَﻧْﺘُﻢْ ﻓَﺠَﺰَﺍﻛُﻢُ ﺍﻟﻠَّﻪُ ﺧَﻴْﺮًﺍ

Pronunciation: Wa antum Fa-Jazakumullahu Khairan.

Meaning: May Allah reward you well too.

ﻓَﺠَﺰَﺍﻛُﻢُ ﺍﻟﻠَّﻪُ ﺧَﻴْﺮًﺍ

Pronunciation: Fa-Jazakumullahu Khairan.

Meaning: May Allah reward you well too.

Once Usaid bin Husayr agreed. As a thank you, he said to the Messenger of God, “Jajakallahu Khairan.” Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: (ﻭَﺃَﻧْﺘُﻢْ ﻓَﺠَﺰَﺍﻛُﻢُ ﺍﻟﻠَّﻪُ ﺧَﻴْﺮًﺍ) “Wa antum Fa-Jazakumullahu Khairan.” means “may Allah reward you well too”.

Sahih Ibn Hibban 6231.

In another narration, Rasulullah SAW said, (ﻓَﺠَﺰَﺍﻛُﻢُ ﺍﻟﻠَّﻪُ ﺧَﻴْﺮًﺍ) “Fa-Jazakumullahu Khairan.” means “may Allah reward you well too”.

Hakem Ha/6974; Ibn Hibban Ha/7279.

Shaykh Al-Albani called it Sahih in Hadith No. 3096.

Umar RA said that if you knew what good lies in saying ‘Jajakallahu Khairan’ for your brothers, you would compete to say more ‘Jajakallahu Khairan’.
