How to pray Salatul Tasbeeh Namaz (Salat ul Tasbih)?
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim, Today’s topic of discussion is How to pray Salatul Tasbeeh Namaz (Salat ul Tasbih).
Salatul Tasbeeh Namaz
This Salat is called Salatul Tasbeeh due to the recitation of more Tasbeeh. It is included in the optional prayers. No Sahih Hadith has been narrated on this matter. Rather, Abdullah Ibn Abbas (R.A.) has called this related hadith Mursal, some Mawquf, some Zaif, and some Mawzu or forgery. Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Fatwa Committee, Lajna Daymah, has fatwad this prayer as bid’ah. Although Shaykh Al-Albani (R.A.) considers the Zaif sources of the said Hadith to be mutually reinforcing. They called it Sahih, Ibn Hajar Asqalani and Saheb Mirayat elevated it to Hasan. Yet many feel that no worship, especially Salat, can be established on such a disputed, doubtful, and weak foundation.
Dear reader! Be aware that there is a difference of opinion among the scholars regarding the hadith of Salatul Tasbeeh, a group of scholars called it Zaif, among them Al Uqbayli, Ibn al-Arabi, Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn Aqeel Hadi, Al Maji, Hafiz Asqbalani. Asqbalani (RA) said at Talkhis Zayif and Ibn al-Jawzi included this hadith among fake hadiths. Ibnu Hazar Asqbalani (RA) said: (In the book At Talkhis) that The real truth is that the source of the hadith in question is zaif.
Although the hadith of Ibn Abbas (RA) is close to the Hasan level, it is shad or rare and In other sources, there is no shaheed or witness hadith and the Salatul Tasbeeh method is contrary to other salats.

Muhammad bin Saad said about Rabbi Musa bin Ubaydah of the said hadith, he is Siqah but not Hujjah. Ahmad bin Hanbal said Hadith should not be narrated from him. Ali Ibnul Madini said he is weak in the narration of hadith. Abu Zur’ah ar-Razi noted he is not reliable in the narration of hadith. Abu Hatim Ar-Razi said, Munkarul Hadith. Imam Zahabi said about Suwayad bin Abu Saeed, he is Majhul or a stranger. The hadith is Sahih based on Shaheed.

On the authority of Abdullah Ibn Abbas (RA):
He said the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said to Abbas Ibn Abdul Muttalib, O Abbas! Oh, my uncle! Shall I donate to you? Shall I not give you, Shall I not tell you? Won’t make you a master of ten habits? If you do them, Allah will forgive you all your previous, subsequent, old and new, intentional or accidental, minor or major, open or hidden sins.
And that is you will pray four Rakats. Fatihatul Kitab and a surah in every rak’ah. After reciting the Qira’at in the first rak’ah, while standing, recite this Tasbeeh fifteen times: “Subhanallahi walhamdu-lillahi, wala-ilaha illallahu Allahu Akbar”. Then go to Ruku. Read this Tasbeeh ten times in Ruku. Then raise your head from Ruku and read this Tasbeeh again ten times. Then do Sajdah. Read this Tasbeeh ten times in Sajda. Then raise your head from Sajdah. Read this Tasbeeh ten times there too. Then go to the second Sajda. Read this Tasbeeh ten times here too. Altogether this Tasbeeh will be seventy-five times in one rak’ah. It should fall like this in four rak’ahs.
If you can read this Salat like this every day, you will read it every day. If you can’t read every day, read once a week. And If you can’t read one week, read one day every month. If you can’t read once a month, read once a year. If you can’t read it even once a year, you must read it once in your life.
Abu Dawud 1297, Ibn Majah 1387, Ibn Khuzaymah 1216, Mustadarak lil Hakim 1192, Sahih at Targhib 677, Sahih al Jami’ 7937, Ad Da’watul Kabir 444, Sunanul Kubra lil Bayhaqi 4916.
Although its Sanad is weak due to Musa ibn Abdul Aziz being a weak rabbi, it has several hadith narrations that raise the hadith to the level of Sahih Ligairihi.
Someone said Salatul Tasbeeh should be performed in four Rakats in one salam whether it is day or night. Someone said that one salam should be offered during the day and two salams at night. And someone has said, once with one salam and another time with two salams.
However, Salat al-Tasbeeh should be performed before Zuhr after sunset, which Abu Dawud narrated in his Sunan on the authority of Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (RA), when the day breaks, stand up and perform four rak’ahs of salat. Someone said that in Salatul Tasbeeh, sometimes Surah Ziljal, Al Adiyat, Al Fatah, and Al Ikhlas will be recited. Others said that it is better to recite Surah Al Hadid, Al Hashr, As Saf, and At Taghabun in the four rak’ahs of Salatul Tasbeeh. (Allah knows best)
