Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim; The main topic of my discussion today is the Benefits of Jummah day and Jummah prayer.

Benefits of Jummah day and Jummah prayer

Benefits of Jummah day

1. Friday is the best day:

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called it the best day. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him):

Jumma is the best day when the sun rises. On this day, Adam (peace be upon him) was created, he was admitted to Paradise, and on this day he was expelled from Paradise. And the Resurrection will take place on the day of Jumu’ah.

Muslim, Hadith: 654, 16; Tirmidhi, Hadith: 46; Nasai, Hadith: 69/3

2. This day includes the Jumma prayer:

Which is one of the most important provisions of Islam and the great union of Muslims. Whoever omits the Jumma prayer for no reason, Allah will seal his heart.

Muslim, Hadith No. 65

3. This is the day when dua is accepted:

There is a moment on the day of Jumma when Allah makes dua, and Allah accepts it. However, the moment has been kept anonymous, so that people give full importance to the day of Jumu’ah and continue to search for the moment. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

There is a moment on the day of Jumma when if a Muslim stands up at that moment and prays to Allah while he is praying, Allah will surely give it to him.

Bukhari, Hadith: 935, Muslim, Hadith: 652

Allama Ibn al-Qayyim said. After presenting the different opinions of the scholars about the time of accepting the dua on Friday. He said that the most acceptable opinion is that the two opinions are confirmed and proven by the hadith.

1- The moment from sitting on the pulpit to the end of the prayer. Because it is narrated on the authority of ‘Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

From sitting on the pulpit to the end of the prayer.

Muslim, Hadith: 653; Sahih Ibn Khuzaima, 1839; Baihaqi, Hadith: 5999

2- The moment is after the Asr prayer on Friday. It is the most acceptable of the two opinions mentioned.

Jadul Ma’ad: 390, 369/1

4. Good day for charity:

It is better to give to charity on Friday than on other days. Allama Ibn al-Qayyum said. He said that it is better to give charity on this day than on other days of the week, just as it is better to give charity in the month of Ramadan than in other months of the year. From Ka’b bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, there is a hadith which is narrated in a pure Sanad which is considered a Marfu hadith, he said,

Doing charity on Friday is more rewarding and important than doing charity on other days.

Muslim

5. The day of meeting the people of Paradise with Allah:

Jumma is a day when Allah will meet the believing friends in Paradise. It is narrated on the authority of Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: Allah would come out publicly every Friday for the people of Paradise.

6. Muslims’ weekly Eid day on Friday:

Friday is the day of the weekly Eid for Muslims. It is narrated on the authority of ‘Abdullah bin’ Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

This is what Allah has ordained for the Muslims on the day of Eid. The person who attends the Jumma prayer should perform ablution.

Ibn Majah, Hadith: 1096; Sahih At-Targhib: 298/1; Albani called the hadith Hasan.

7. Day of Forgiveness:

On this day, Allah forgives the sins of His servants. Narrated by Salman Radiyallahu Anhu, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,

The one who performed the ghusl on the day of Jumma attained as much purity as possible, applied oil and perfume from the house, left the house without gaping between the two persons, then performed the prescribed prayer according to his destiny and delivered the sermon of the Imam. If he remains silent for a while, then his sins committed from this Jumma to the next Jumu’ah will be forgiven.

Bukhari, Hadith: 910, 63

8. The reward of keeping Qiyamul Lail for one year and Raja for one year:

Attending the Jumma prayer on foot on the day of Jumu’ah is equivalent to one year of fasting and one year of Qiyamul Lail.

It is narrated on the authority of Aws ibn Aws as-Saqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say:

The person who prays on Friday inspires others, goes to the mosque in the morning, encourages others, comes to the mosque on foot without adornment, and sits next to the imam, does nothing in vain, is a king at every step. The year will be rewarded for Qiyamul Lail.

Ahmad, Hadith: 18173

9. On this day, the burning of hell ceases:

Hell is heated every day of the week, except on Fridays. In honor of Jumma, the burning and heating of Hell are stopped on this day.

Jadul Ma’ad: 36/1

10. Good signs of dying on Jumma day or Jumma night:

Death on Jummah day or Jumu’ah night is a sign of good fortune. Because the person who dies on the day of Jumma or the night of Jumu’ah survives the torment of the grave and the question of Munkar Naqeer. It is narrated on the authority of ‘Abdullah bin’ Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

Whoever dies on the day of Jumma or the night of Jumu’ah, Allah will surely save him from the torment of the grave.

Ahmed 6562; Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1084. Albani has called the hadith Saheeh.

Sahih At-Targhib, Hadith: 72

4. The Jumma prayer is a special act of gaining Paradise:

Paradise can be attained by performing the Jumuah prayer. It is narrated on the authority of Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say:

6. The reward of sacrificing animals:

The sooner a person comes to the Jumuah prayer on the day of Jumma, the more reward he will get. It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

He who fasts on Fridays as if he were fasting, then goes to the mosque for the first time, as if he were sacrificing a camel for the sake of nearness to God. Then the one who went to the mosque, as if he were sacrificing a sheep for the sake of gaining nearness to Allah. And then, the one who went to the mosque gave a hen in the way of Allah to attain nearness to Allah. Then the person who went to the mosque donated an egg in the way of Allah to gain nearness to Allah. Then, when the Imam is present, the angels are also present and listen to his sermon.
