Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim: The main topic of my discussion today is how many Rakats in Jummah prayer, and is Jummah mandatory?
How many rakats in jummah
The Friday prayer is two rak’ahs. There is no specific Sunnah salat before Jumuah. Musalli will only recite two Rakats of Tahiyatul Masjid. Then, when the time comes, the khatib will perform as many nafl salats as he wants until he sits on the pulpit. After Jumma salat, perform four Rakats in the mosque or two Rakats at home. However, in the mosque also four or two and four mats, six Rakats of Sunnat and nafl can be recited.
Muslim, Mishkat H / 116 ‘Sunnat salats and its virtues’ paragraph-30; Tirmidhi H / 522-23 ‘Jum’a Chapter-4, Paragraph-24; Mir’at 2/146; 6, 4 / 142 43.
Ibn Umar used to recite four Rakats of Sunnah in one salutation, but they can now be read in two salutations.
Miraat 4 / 256-57.
The hadeeth of reciting four rak’ahs in one salaam before Jummah (khutbah) is Zayef.
Ibn Majah H / 1129 ‘Salat’ Chapter-2, ‘Salat before Jumuah’ Paragraph-94.
Is Jumma prayer mandatory?
Jumma prayer is obligatory for every adult Muslim. The Qur’an and Hadith prove that Friday prayers are obligatory.
One- Proof by Quran:
Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
O you who believe! When the call to prayer is made, then stop trading and hasten to the remembrance of Allah. This is for your good if you only knew.
Verse No. 9 of Surah Al-Jumma
Allah commands people to turn away from the remembrance of Allah after the call to prayer on Friday. It is obligatory to obey the command of Allah. Therefore, it is obligatory to go to the mosque to perform the Friday prayer after the call to prayer on the day of Jummah. Allah forbids buying and selling on the day of Jumuah after the call to prayer so that the Jumua prayer may not be missed. If the Jumma prayer had not been obligatory, he would not have forbidden buying and selling.
Two- Evidence by Hadith:
The first hadith
It is narrated on the authority of Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said about those who abstain from Jummah prayer: Then We set fire to the houses of those who abstain from Jumma prayer.
Muslim, Hadith: 652, 254; Ahmad, Hadith: 3617
The second hadith
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah and Abdullah Omar that they heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sitting on a wooden pulpit and saying, As a result, they will be among the heedless.
Muslim, Hadith: 65; Ahmad, Hadith: 2290; Nasai, Hadith: 1370
The third hadith
It is narrated on the authority of Abul Ja’ad ad-Damri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever gives up three Jummas out of laziness, Allah will seal his heart.
Ahmad, Hadith: 15498; Ibn Majah, Hadith: 1125; Abu Dawood, Hadith: 1052
The fourth hadith
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) narrated from Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), that every adult must attend the Jumma prayer.
Nasai, Hadith: 1381; Abu Dawood, Hadith: 342; Ibn Khuzaimah, Hadith: 1821
