What is Witr Prayer? How to pray Witr Namaz? Witr Salah dua
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim, Today’s topic of discussion is what is Witr Prayer, how to pray Witr Namaz, Witr Salah dua, and many more related issues.
What is Witr Prayer?
Witr means odd. And Witr prayers mean odd prayers; Which is one Rakat. Because no prayer is odd without adding one Rakat; Rasulullah (sm) said, Nafl prayer of the night is two; Then when one of you fears the dawn, let him recite one Rakat; Which will make all the previous nafl prayers Witr.
Bukhari H / 990; Muttafaq alaih, Mishkat H / 1254.
Virtues of Witr Prayer
Many hadiths have been narrated about the importance and virtue of Witr prayer. Here are some of them:
1) Khareja Ibn Hudhafa (R) said: The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) once came to us and said: Surely Allah Ta’ala has blessed them with a prayer. It is better for you than a red camel. That is the Witr prayer. It is time for him to perform this prayer. Determined, from the time of Asr prayers until the dawn of Fajr.
Abu Dawood H / 1206. Tirmizi, H / 414. Ibn Majah, H / 1156.
2) It is narrated on the authority of Ali (R) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) performed the Witr prayer and said: O followers of the Qur’an, perform the Witr prayer. Because Allah is One, He prefers the Witr prayer.
Abu Dawood, H / 1418. Nasai, H / 17. Sahih Targib Hadith No. 594. Sahih Ibn Majah H / 1/193.
3) Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) used to perform this prayer seriously. Even if he went on a tour, he would not stop praying.
Narrated Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): He said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to sit on his vehicle during the night prayers, except for the obligatory prayers. He used to recite the Witr prayer on the rider.
Bukhari, H / 945.
Is Witr prayer mandatory?
Witr salat sunnat muakkadah. It is not obligatory; So no one will be guilty if he leaves Witr.
Fikbhus Sunnah 1/143; Nasai H / 17; Miraat 2/207; 6, 4 / 263-74; Shah Aliullah Dehlavi, Hujjatullahil Baligah 2/18.
Witr prayer time
The time for Witr prayers is from the time of Esha prayers till the time of Fajr. Perform this prayer in the middle of that time; As mentioned earlier in the hadith narrated by Khareja Ibn Hudhafa (R).
However, it is better to collect it on the last night, i.e. before Fajr. It has been proved in Sahih Hadith that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sometimes offered the Witr prayer in the first part of the night, sometimes in the second part, and most of the time in the last part.
Ayesha (R) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) offered the Witr prayer in every part of the night; It became his habit to recite Witr in the early part of the night, in the middle of the night and then at the end of the night.
Bukhari, Chapter Juma H / 941. Muslim, Chapter: Musafir’s Prayer H / 1231.
Narrated from Jabir (R), he said, the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said,
The person who fears that he will not be able to get up for the supererogatory prayers on the last night should perform the Witr prayers in the early part of the night. And whoever is interested in performing Qiyam on the last night, let him perform the Witr prayer on the last night. Because the angels attended last night’s prayer. And that is better.
Muslim H / 1255, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah.
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: You will perform the last Witr of your night prayer.
Bukhari H / 943, Muslim H / 1245.
How many Rakat of Witr prayer
Witr prayers are a part of Tahajjud’s prayers. That is why the whole Qiyamullah of the night has also been called Witr in various hadiths.
This is why it has been mentioned earlier that the best time for the Witr prayer is the last night – when the Tahajjud prayer is performed. But if there is a valid reason, it has been allowed to be recited along with the Esha prayers – to give more importance to this prayer.
The number of Rakats of the Witr prayer is not limited to a certain number; This prayer can be performed up to 1, 3, 5, 6, 9, 11, and 13 Rakats.
how to pray Witr prayer
We already know that the number of Rakats in the Witr prayer is not limited to a certain number; This prayer can be performed up to 1, 3, 5, 6, 9, 11, and 13 Rakats. So we will describe them one by one InshaAllah.
A) One Rakat Witr
The rule of reciting one Rakat of Witr is that the child will bow down after reciting Surah Fatiha and another Surah. Dua Qunoot will be recited from the Ruku. Then he will perform two prostrations, recite Tashahhud, Darood, and Dua, and return the salutation.
Narrated by Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), he said:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to offer the nafl prayer at night in two Rakats and one Rakat in Witr.
Bukhari Hadith Nos. 938, 932, 934; Muslim Hadith No. 1251.
Also narrated from Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), he said, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,
Witr is one rakat on the last night.
Muslim, Chapter: Musafir’s Prayer, Paragraph: The night prayer is two Rakats and the last night of Witr is one Rakat H / 1248.
Narrated Abu Mizlaj: He said: I asked Ibn ‘Abbas about the Witr prayer. He said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, ‘Witr is one Rakat of prayer on the last night.’ He said, “I also asked Ibn ‘Umar about it.” He also said, “I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say, ‘Witr is one Rakat of prayer on the last night.’
Muslim H / 1249.
Imam Nawabi said that there is evidence from all these hadiths that it is pure to perform one Rakat of Witr prayer and it is mustahabb to perform it on the last night.
Sharhe Nawabi Sahih Muslim, 6/26.
One Rakat has also been proved in the hadith narrated by Abu Ayyub Ansari. In that hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: He who wants to recite one Rakat of Witr can recite one Rakat.
Abu Dawood H / 1212, Ibn Majah H / 1170.
Among the Companions are Abu Bakr, Omar, Osman, Ali, Sa’d Ibn Abi Waqqas, Mu’adh Bin Jabal, Ubayy Bin Ka’b, Abu Musa Ashari, Abu Darda, Hudhayfah, Ibn Mas’ud, Ibn Omar, Ibn Abbas, Abu Hurairah, Mu’awiyah. , Tamim Dari, Abu Ayyub Ansari (Radiyallahu Anhu), and among the Tabi’is are Imam Zuhri, Hasan Basri, Muhammad bin Sirin, Saeed bin Zubair (R) and three Imams of the four traditional schools Imam Malik, Shafi’i, Ahmad (Rah) He was inclined to read Witr.
Legal gift from Naylul Awtar 1/222 p.
It is narrated on the authority of Saad bin Abi Waqqas that he used to offer the Isha prayer in the mosque of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and then recite one Rakat of Witr, not more. He was called, Abu Ishaq. You do not pay more than one Rakat of Witr? He said, “Yes, I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, ‘The one who does not go to sleep without reciting Witr is a firm man.’
Musnad Ahmad H / 1382.
Shaykh al-Albaani said that some scholars of the Hanafi school said that there is no prayer below three Rakats. That is, there is a consensus (consensus of all) on reciting three Rakats of Witr. But their claim is undocumented. Because we have seen that many of the Companions have recited one Rakat of Witr.
Salatut Tarabeeh p.85. See details: Fathul Bari 2/375, Nasbur Raya 2/122.
Therefore, for those who say that there is no prayer for one Rakat, there is something to be learned from the discussion. Because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) himself used to perform one Rakat of Witr prayer. Many of Sahabaye Keram also followed him in this regard.
Imam al-Shafi’i said that the Muslims have agreed that if the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is proved to someone, then it is not lawful for him to abandon it as some say.
God Almighty says,
Those who disobey His (Messenger’s) command should beware that they will fall into temptation or severe punishment will touch them.
Surah Noor verse no-63.
B) Three Rakat Witr
There are two pure methods of performing three Rakats of Witr prayers.
The first method
After reciting two Rakats, he returned the salutation. Then recite one Rakat. The evidence for this method is as follows: Narrated from Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).
One of the Companions asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) about the night prayer. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘The night prayer is two Rakats.
Sahih Bukhari, Chapter Witr Prayer, Paragraph Description of Witr. H / 932 (Bangla Bukhari). Muslim, Chapter: The Prayer of the Traveler, H / 1239.
According to this method, Witr is one Rakat. After reciting two Rakats, return the salutation and then recite one Rakat. For example, Ibn ‘Umar (R) was asked: What is the meaning of two Rakats? He said: Salam will be returned after every two Rakats.
Muslim – H / 1252.
Ibn ‘Umar (R), Imam Malik, Shafi’i, Ahmed, Ishaq, etc. used to recite Witr in this way.
Al Mugni 2/56.
Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrated that when a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about the Witr prayer, he said that he would distinguish between two Rakats and one Rakat.
Asram narrates the hadith in his Sanad. Dr. Al Mughni 2/569.
Narrated from Ayesha (R), she said:
When I was at home, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray in his room. He used to separate between two Rakats and one Rakat, at which time he would listen to us and salute us loudly.
Ahmad H / 23396.
Hazrat Ayesha (R) said in Ara, the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to recite one Rakat of Witr. He used to talk between two Rakats and one Rakat.
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Shaykh Albani said that the sanad of the hadeeth is Saheeh according to Shaykhin (Bukhari Muslim). Dr. Irwaul Galil H / 420.
The second method
After reciting two Rakats without sitting down for Tashahhud and returning the salutation after reciting three Rakats at once. Evidence of this is narrated from Hazrat Ayesha (R) who said that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) used to offer Witr prayer. He did not sit for Tashahhud, he would recite three Rakats at a time and sit in the last Rakat and recite Tashahhud. This is how Amir al Mu’minin Hazrat Omar bin Khattab (R) used to recite Witr.
The hadith is narrated by Imam Hakeem, who said that the hadith is Saheeh.
Another hadith is found indicating the recitation of three Rakats of Witr at a time. Ubayy bin Ka’b said:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to recite ‘Sabbehisma Rabbikal Ala’ in the first Rakat, ‘Qul ya Ayuhal Kafirun’ in the second Rakat, and ‘Qul Huwallahu Ahad’ in the third Rakat in the Witr prayer. He would return the salutation after completing all the Rakats.
Nasai, Chapter Qiyamul Lail and Nafl Namaz, Chapter Witr. H / 161.
Reading three Rakat Witr like Maghrib
In the case of the three Rakats of Witr, apart from the two methods mentioned, there is another method which is to perform the Witr prayer like the Maghrib prayer. That is, after reciting two Rakats, reciting Tashahhud, standing without returning the salutation, and reciting one Rakat. As is common in our society. This method is documented
Narrated Abdullah bin Masood: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
The Witr of the night is three Rakats, that is the Witr of the day is like Maghrib.
Darakutni 2 / 26,26; Bayhaqi H / 4812.
Imam Darakutni narrated this hadith and said that the hadith is not Saheeh; That’s Zayef.
Imam Baihaqi said that although the hadith was narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), it was originally narrated by Ibn Masood (may Allaah be pleased with him).
Nasbur Raya 2/116.
Another argument is put forward for performing the Witr prayer like Maghrib. That is stated in Sahih Hadith,
Maghrib is the Witr prayer of the day. So perform the night Witr prayer.
The hadith is narrated by Tabarani quoting Ibn ‘Umar. (Dr. Sahihul Jame- Albani Paragraph Night Prayer, H / 1456).
Explanation: It is understood from this hadith that the Witr of the night should be performed like Maghrib.
But this explanation is not acceptable. Because here, in terms of the number of Rakats, the Maghrib prayer is performed in the same way as the Witr, that is, the odd prayers will be performed on the same night. Here, in terms of the number of Rakats, Witr is said to be like Maghrib, not in terms of method. For this reason, in another hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade reciting the Witr prayer in the same way as the Maghrib prayer.
Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
Do not recite three Rakats of Witr in line with the Maghrib prayers; Rather, recite Witr by five Rakats or by seven Rakats or by nine Rakats, or by eleven Rakats.
Tahawi, Darakutni, Ibn Hibban, and Hakim have narrated the hadith. Hakim called the hadith saheeh according to the terms of Bukhari and Muslim, and Imam Zahabi supported it. Ibn Hajar and Shawqani and Sahih said. (Dr. Fathul Bari, 2/558, Naylul Aotbar 3 / 42-43.
Shaykh al-Albaani said that when three Rakats of Witr are recited in two Tashahhud, it becomes similar to Maghrib. And this is what is forbidden in the hadith. But if you sit in the last Rakat, there will be no similarity. Hafiz Ibn Hazar has mentioned this in Fathul Bari and Chanani has said that this method is better in Subulus Salam.
Salatut Tarabeeh – Albani, p. 96.
Therefore, it has been proved that performing the Witr prayer as Maghrib, that is, in two Tashahhud, that is, after two Rakats, reciting Tashahhud and reciting one Rakat without returning the salutation, is contrary to the Sunnah, which must be abandoned.
Many may say, we do not differentiate from Maghrib through Qunoot, Kerat, and extended Takbeer. But this is not acceptable. Because reciting Qunoot in Witr prayer is optional or mustahab. Moreover, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also recited Qunoot in the Maghrib prayer.
Sahih Muslim, Chapter: Place of Mosque and Prostration, H / 1093, 1094.
There is no basis for extended Takbeer in Witr prayers. Therefore, if Witr is recited according to the conventional rules, that is, if two Rakats are recited and other Rakat are recited without returning the salaam while sitting in Tashahhud, it coincides with Maghrib and is included in the prohibition of Hadith. Therefore Witr should not be read in this rule.
Shaykh al-Albaani said that the Witr prayer in two Tashahhud like Maghrib is not proved by clear Saheeh hadeeth. For this reason, we will say that in the case of performing three Rakats, one should not sit in the middle for Tashahhud. And if you sit down, you will return the salutation. Then one Rakat will be recited. And this is the best method for three Rakats.
C) Five Rakat Witr
Narrated Abu Ayyub Ansari: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The right of every Muslim is to perform the Witr prayer. Therefore, he who wants to recite five Rakats of Witr can recite five, he who wants to recite three Rakats can recite three and he who wants to recite one Rakat of Witr can recite one Rakat.
Abu Dawood, Chapter Salat, Paragraph How many Rakats of Witr prayers H / 1212, Ibn Majah, Chapter: Establishing Salat, Paragraph: Description of Witr three Rakats, five, seven and nine Rakats, H / 1160.
Narrated Ayesha: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to recite the five Rakats of Witr. He would not sit anywhere in it, he would sit in the last Rakat.
Musnad Ahmad H / 24520. Sunan Nasai, Chapter Qiyamul Lail and Nafl Namaz, paragraph how to recite five Rakats of Witr, H / 1896.
D) Seven Rakat Witr
Ayesha (R) said,
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited seven Rakats of Witr when his body became heavy due to old age.
Muslim, Chapter: The Prayer of the Traveler. H / 1233.
There are two rules for reciting these seven Rakats. (1) Seven Rakats will be recited simultaneously. Do not sit in the middle, and do not read Tashahhud. (2) Six Rakats will be recited simultaneously. Then he will stand for the seventh Rakat without returning the salutation and will return the salutation after reciting Tashahhud.
The first method is proven
Ayesha (R) said that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) became old and his body became heavy, he recited seven Rakats of Witr and sat in Tashahhud for the last Rakat.
Sunan Nasai, Chapter Qiyamul Lail and Nafl Namaz, paragraph How to recite seven Rakats of Witr, H / 1899.
Narrated by Umm Salamah (R), she said,
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to recite five Rakats and seven Rakats of Witr. Between these five or seven Rakats he would not return the salutation or say anything. That is, he used to pray five or seven Rakats at a time.
Nasai, Chapter Qiyamul Lail and Nafl Namaz, paragraph How to recite seven Rakats of Witr, H / 1895. Sahih Nasai – Albani H / 1/365. Ibn Majah, Chapter: Establishing Prayers, Paragraph: Description of Witr Three Rakats, five, seven, and nine Rakats, H / 1162. Sahih Ibn Majah – Albani H / 1/198.
The second method is proven
Ayesha (R) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited seven Rakats of Witr when he was old and weak. After reciting six Rakats at a time, he sat in Tashahhud. Then he stood up without returning the salutation and recited the seventh Rakat and then returned the salutation.
Sunan Nasai, Chapter Qiyamul Lail and Nafl Namaz, paragraph How to recite seven Rakats of Witr, H / 1600.
E) Nine Rakat Witr
The method of performing this prayer is to recite Tashahhud while reciting eight Rakats at a time. Then stand up and recite the ninth Rakat recite the Tashahhud and return the salutation.
Saad Ibn Hisham (R) said I asked Aisha (R) the mother of believers, to tell me about the Witr prayer of the Prophet (PBUH). He said, “We used to prepare Miswak and ablution water for him.” By the will of Allah, when he was awake, he used to perform Meswak and ablution and then perform nine Rakats of prayer. At this time he would sit in the eighth Rakat without sitting in the middle. He used to sit and meditate on Allah, praise Him, and make dua. Then he would stand up without returning the salutation and perform the ninth Rakat. Then he would sit in Tashahhud and remember Allah, praise Him, and make dua. And then he would listen to us and return the salutation aloud.
Muslim, Chapter: Musafir’s Prayer H / 1233.
Umm Salama (R) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to recite thirteen Rakats of Witr. When he became old and weak, he recited nine Rakats of Witr.
Nasai, Chapter Qiyamul Lail and Nafl Prayer, H / 189.
F) Eleven Rakat Witr
It is narrated on the authority of Ayesha that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to pray eleven Rakats at night, one of which was Witr. According to another narration, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to offer eleven Rakats of prayer between the time of Isha and the time of Fajr. After reciting every two Rakats, he would return the salutation and recite one Rakat of Witr.
Muslim, Chapter: Musafir’s Prayer, Paragraph Night Prayer, H / 1218.
G) Thirteen Rakat Witr
There are two ways to do this
(1) After every two Rakats the salaam will be returned and at the end, one Rakat of Witr will be recited. Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) described the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) and said,
I went to the prayer and stood to his left; Then he turned his right hand over my head with his right ear grabbed me and made me stand on his right side; Then he prayed two Rakats, again two Rakats, again two Rakats, again two Rakats, again two Rakats, again two Rakats, then Witr; And then he lay down a little; When the muezzin came, he stood up and lightly prayed two Rakats; Then he left the house and performed the Fajr prayer.
Bukhari, Chapter: Witr Prayer, H / 936. Muslim, Chapter: The Prayer of the Traveler; Paragraph night prayers and supplications of the Prophet (peace be upon him), H / 1284.
(2) The thirteen Rakat prayers will be performed in two Rakats and at the end, Witr will be performed in five Rakats at a time. Narrated from Ayesha (R), she said,
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray thirteen Rakats at night; (Lastly) he used to recite Witr by five Rakats; Do not sit between these five Rakats; sat at the end.
Muslim, Chapter: The Prayer of the Traveler. Paragraph night prayers and supplications of the Prophet (peace be upon him), H / 1218.
Niyat of Witr prayer
It is obligatory to make intention for every act of worship. Niyat means a determination of mind. And its place is the heart; Not the face. None of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his Companions uttered a specific word; So it is Bidat to utter it orally; Moreover, there are no constrained words for intention; If you make up your mind for any act of worship, the intention will be fulfilled; there is no need to say anything in the face.
Narrated Al-Qamamah Ibn Waqqas Al-Laysi: He said: I heard ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (R) standing on the pulpit saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) say: Work (according to the intention). And man will be rewarded according to his intention.
Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 1
Surah of Wtr prayer
Ubayy ibn Kab (R) said that the Prophet (sm) used to recite Surah Al-A’la in the first Rakat of three Rakats of Witr, Surah Kafirun in the second Rakat, and Surah Ikhlas in the third Rakat. At the same time, there was talk of reading Falak and Nas.
Hakeem 1/305, Abu Dawood, Daremi, Mishkat H / 1289, 1282.
Witr prayer dua
Qunoot means humble obedience. Qunoot has two types; Qunoot e Ratibah and qunoot e naazilah. The first is to be recited in the last rak’ah of the Witr prayer; The second is to be read in the last rak’ah of the obligatory prayer due to danger and any special emergency; A special Doa has been narrated in Hadith for the Qunoot of Witr.
Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood, Nasai, Ibn Majah, Mishkat H / 1283.
The Qunoot of Witr continues to be read throughout the year.
Above, Mishkat H / 1283; Miraat 4/273; Fikbhus Sunnah 1/146.
But sometimes it is better to give up because Qunoot is not obligatory for Witr.
Abu Dawood, Nasai, Tirmidhi, Mishkat H / 1291-92 ‘Kunut’ paragraph-37; Miraat 4/306.
It is permissible to recite Qunoot in Doa both before and after Ruku.
Muttafaq alaih, Mishkat H / 1289; Ibn Majah H / 1173-84, Mishkat H / 1294; Miraat 4 / 26-7; Fikbhus Sunnah 1/146; Albani, Qiyamu Ramazan p.23.
It is clearly stated by Abu Hurairah that,
When Rasulullah (sm) used to make Doa against Kara or for Kara, he used to recite Qunoot after Ruku.
Muttafaq alaih, Mishkat H / 128.
Imam Bayhaqi said,
After the Ruku ‘, the rabbis of Qunoot have more and more memories and the Khulafa Rashedin has acted on it.
Bayhaqi 2/207; Note the discussion of Tuhfatul Ahwazi (Cairo: 1406/198) H / 473, 2/56 p.
It has been proven that Hazrat Omar, Abdullah Ibn Masood, Anas, Abu Hurairah (R), and other Companions raised their hands along with their chests and made dua at the point of Witr.
Bayhaqi 2 / 211-12; Miraat 4/300; Gift 2/56.
There is no pure evidence of the customary practice of raising hands and reciting the Takbeer before the Ruku ‘in Takbeer like Tahrima.
Irwaul Galil H / 428; Miraat 4/299, Kunut ‘Article-37.
Imam Ahmad bin Humble was asked whether the Qunoot of Witr would be after Ruku, or before and whether the hands could be raised for prayer at this time. He said that the Qunoot of Witr would be after the Ruku ‘and this time he would raise his hands and do Doa.
Gift 2/56; Masael Imam Ahmad, Masala No. 417-21.
Imam Abu Yusuf (R) said that during the Qunoot of Witr, the palms of both hands should be raised towards the sky along the chest. Imam Tahabi and Imam Karkhi also liked it.
Miraat 4/300 p.
At this time the Muktadis will say ‘Amen’ ‘Amen’.
Miraat 4/306; Sifat 159 p .; Abu Dawood, Mishkat H / 1290.
Qunoot e Ratibah
Hasan bin Ali (R) said that Rasulullah (sm) taught me the following prayer to say in the Qunu of Witr.
Transliteration: Allah-hummahdini fiman hadayata wa ‘a-fini fiman’ a-fayta Innahu la- yazillu maun walaita, taba-rakta rabbana- wata’a-laita.
Translation: O Allah! You guide me with all the people whom you have guided (Prophets); Protect me from the dangers of the world with those whom you have protected; Be my guardian among those whom you have guarded; Bless me with what you have given me (life, knowledge, wealth, good deeds); And save me from the evil that is written in my destiny; Surely command what you will; No one can command you; No one can insult the one you love; O my Lord! You are full of baraka, You have a very high status.
Mishkat H / 1263
At the end of the prayer, the performer will go to prostration saying, Allahu Akbar.
Ahmad, Nasai H / 1064; Albani, Shifatu Salatin Nabi, 160 p.
Kunu will only raise two hands. The hadith of waving the hand in the mouth is Zayef.
Fikbhus Sunnah 1/146; Zayef Abu Dawud H / 1475; Annotation of Bayhaqi, Mishkat H / 2255; Irwaul Galil H / 433-34, 2/161 p.
At the end of Witr, he will say ‘Subha-nal Malikil Quddus’ three times.
Nasai H / 1899 Sanad Sahih.
Then, if he wishes, he should perform two Rakats of Nafl Salat while sitting and reciting Surah Jil’al in the first Rakat and Surah Kafirun in the second Rakat.
Ahmad, Ibn Majah, Mishkat H / 1284, 65, 7; Silsila Sahihah H / 1993.
It is to be noted that Allah-humma inna nastahunuka wa nastagfiruka …
Marasile Abu Daud H / 69; Bayhaqi 2/210; Mirkat 3 / 163-64; Miraat 4/275.
Moreover, it has been described as Nuela in Kunu, not as Ratebah in Kunu.
At the end of Irwa H / 428, 2/162 p.
Therefore, the above-mentioned prayer is best for the Qunoot of Witr.
See discussion of Miraat H / 1261, 4/265 p.
Imam Tirmidhi said, “We have not come to know any better Doa from the Holy Prophet (sm) for Qunoot.”
Note the discussion of Tuhfatul Ahwazi H / 483, 2/564 p .; Bayhaqi 2 / 210-11.
Qunoot e Naazilah
This prayer is to be recited especially in times of danger like war, enemy attack, etc., or by praying for the help of Allah for the special welfare of others. In Qunoot, one has to stand after the Ruku ‘in the last rak’ah of the Fajr prayer or all the time in the obligatory rak’ah, and after saying’ Rabbana Lakal Hamd ‘, one has to raise both hands and recite aloud.
Muttafaq alaih, Abu Dawood, Mishkat H / 128-90; Sifat 159; Fikbhus Sunnah 1 / 148-49.
No specific Doa has been narrated from Rasoolullah (sm) for the revelation in Qunoot; Considering the situation, the Imam will recite prayers in Arabic and the muqtadis will say ‘Amen’ and ‘Amen’.
Abu Dawood, Mishkat H / 1290; Miraat 4/306; Sifat 159 p.
The Prophet (sm) has prayed continuously against different people or forces at different times and even for a month.
Muttafaq alaih, Abu Dawood, Nasai, Mishkat H / 128-91.
However, a supplication has been narrated from Hazrat Omar (R) in this regard; Which he used to recite in the Fajr prayer and which can be recited in the prayer five times a day against the opposing forces. E.g.

Translation: O Allah, forgive us and the believing men and women, and the Muslim men and women. Connect their hearts and reconcile them. Help them against you and their enemies. O Allah, curse the people of disbelief who obstruct Your path and who deny the Messengers and fight with the saints. O Allah, cause discord in their unity and cause tremors in their footsteps and send down a punishment that is not removed from the guilty. Bismillahir Rahmani Rahim, O Allah, we seek Your help and forgiveness, entrusting all goodness to You. Don’t be ungrateful to you. We abandon those who disobey us. Bismillahir Rahmani Rahim, O Allah, to You we serve, to You we pray and to You we prostrate. We run to you and move forward. I fear Your severe chastisement and hope for mercy, and Your chastisement is destined for the disbelievers.
Bayhaqi 2 / 210-11. Bayhaqi has called this hadith Sahih Mausul.
Then for the first time Bismillah … with Inna Nastaunuka … and for the second time Bismillah … with Inna Na’buduka .. is narrated.
Bayhaqi 2/211 p.
It is to be noted that the middle part from the ‘Kunute Najela’ i.e. Inna Nastahunuka … has been introduced as ‘Kunute Vitar’, which is wrong. Albani said that Omar (R) used to recite this prayer in the Fajr prayer as Qunoot e Naazilah. I did not know that he had read it.
Irwaul Galil H / 428, 2/162 p.
