Subhana Rabbiyal Azeem and Subhana Rabbi Al Ala Hadith

Narrated Huzayfah (RA):

He said, One night I prayed Tahajjud with the Prophet (peace be upon him). When he started reciting Surah Al-Baqara, I thought he might recite a hundred verses and bow down. But even after that, he continued to fall. Then I thought. He will return the salam with it (Surat al-Baqbarah) by reciting the full two Rakats. But if he continued to recite it, I thought he would bow after finishing the Surah. But then he started reciting Surah Nisa and recited it, and then he started Surah A-li ‘Imran and recited it. He was reciting slowly with pauses and the verses of Tasbeer were reciting Tasbeeh and the verses of asking for something were asking. He was praying while reciting a verse asking for refuge.

Then he bowed. In Ruku he continued to say, “Subha-na Rabbiyal ‘Azeem” (Holy is my Lord, I describe His Holiness). His Ruku’ was as long as Qiyam. Then “Sami All-hu Liman Hamidah” (Allah hears the praises of Him) said: Then he stood for almost as long as he had bowed. Then he prostrated. In sajda, he said, “Subha-na rabbiyal A’la” (Great Exalted is my Lord, I describe His Holiness). His sajdah also lasted almost as long as the time of Qiyam. The narrator of the hadith said that the hadith narrated by Jarir has more than this: He [the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) rose from his bow] said, “Sami’All-hu Liman Hamidah, Rabbana- Lakal Hamd” (Allah hears the one who hears His praises. O our Lord, all praises are due to You).
