What is the meaning of Salah (Salat) in Islam?

Salah meaning in Islam
The literal meaning of Salah is Doa, Rahmat, asking for forgiveness, etc. In the technical sense, the best act of worship in which a servant seeks forgiveness and prays to Allah through a Shari’ah-directed procedure is called salat or namaz, which begins with Takbeer Tahrima and ends with salam.

Provision of Salat
Prayers are obligatory after receiving prophethood. But then the prayers were only in Fajr and Asr with two Rakats (Qurtubi). As Allah said to His Messenger, “Praise your Lord before sunset and before sunrise.” (Ghafir / Mumin 40/55; Mir’at 2/269)
Ayesha (R) said that in the beginning, the prayers were at home and on the journey in two Rakats.

Besides, the prayers of Tahajjud were extra for the Prophet (sm) (Isra / Banu Israel 17/69). At the same time, the Companions also regularly performed Nafl prayers at night.

Prayers are obligatory five times daily on the night of Miraj.
